The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) ministries in the United States provide an in-residence rehabilitation program with a focus on basic necessities. Each program participant receives a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, spiritual direction and the resources needed to develop life skills and a personal relationship with God. The Salvation Army Modesto Corps does initial assessment and evaluation for individuals who request entry into one of our ARC programs because of drug and alcohol addiction. If the interview process determines our program is not the best placement, we’ll make every effort to refer to a program that will be. A long-term commitment of at least six months is required so patterns of poor decision-making can be broken and replaced with positive life choices – changes that will help individuals become productive citizens of their community. Applicants with a desire to get help may be referred by families, friends, courts, clergy and community leaders or may simply call the Modesto Corps Social Services Office at (209)523-7577 to make an appointment or get more information about local ARC programs. The Salvation Army’s services are available without regard to race, religion or national origin. The nearest ARC men's facility is in Stockton and women's facilities are located in Fresno and San Francisco. |

Kids' Day is a collaborative effort between The Modesto Bee and The Salvation Army to benefit children's programs at the Red Shield Center in South Modesto. Since its inception, Kids' Day has raised more than $628,407 to benefit the children who use the center in one of Modesto's poorest areas. This year Kids' Day will be held on Tuesday May 15, 2012. We want to exceed last years' goal and offer more help with the positive programs that are reaching youth in our community. With your help, we can do it! Here's how you can be part of this great community event:
