Seasonal Camps Print E-mail

The Salvation Army's Camp Redwood Glen is located in Scott's Valley, in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We hold our annual camps here which offer opportunities for hiking, crafts, swimming and more!

The programs offered are:

  • SAY Camp
SAY (Salvation Army Youth) Camp is a 6-day camp, intended primarily for youth age 7 to 12. This Camp is part of the Salvation Army Youth and character-building programs that they participate in throughout the year at Salvation Army Corps, such as the Sunbeams, Girl Guards, Adventure Corps and Junior Soldiers. Campers will earn emblems for participation in SAY Camp programs.

  • Music and Gospel Arts Camp
Our Music and Gospel Arts Camp is a 8-day camp, designed for campers from 9 to 16 years of age. Included in this camp will be musically instrumental, vocal and creative opportunities. The camp concludes with a concert which will be open to the public. Also, campers will be able to participate in camp activities, such as swimming, arts & crafts and more!

  • Community Service Camps
Community Service Camps are 5-day camps, located at Camp Redwood Glen. These camps are for youth age 7 to 12, offering a variety of experiences, including swimming, arts & crafts, archery, slingshots, campouts, campfires, cabin activities, chapel time and great devotions. These camps also give Girl Guards/Sunbeams, Junior Soldiers and Adventure Corps participants the opportunity to achieve emblems and learn about the Salvation Army in a whole new light, but most of all, learn about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

  • Outdoor Adventure Camps
  • Outdoor Adventure Camps are 5-day camps for teens from 13 to 16 years of age. These camps are separate from our main camp and the experience incorporates: ropes course challenges, team-building activities and a three-day backpacking expedition through Big Basin State Park. Also, each day on the trail will include hiking to a new campsite where campers will sleep in tents, cook their own food, and filter their own water. They will also have the opportunity to spend time at the Camp Redwood Glen pool, play games, sit around a campfire and have fun!

kids day fundraiser

Kids' Day is a collaborative effort between The Modesto Bee and The Salvation Army to benefit children's programs at the Red Shield Center in South Modesto. Since its inception, Kids' Day has raised more than $628,407 to benefit the children who use the center in one of Modesto's poorest areas.

This year Kids' Day will be held on Tuesday May 15, 2012. We want to exceed last years' goal and offer more help with the positive programs that are reaching youth in our community. With your help, we can do it!

Here's how you can be part of this great community event:

  • Volunteer to sell papers on May 15th
  • Purchase Kids' Day papers to resell or donate to local schools
  • Remind your friends, employees and neighbors to have a $1.00 ready on May 15
  • Donate online
All sales last from 7:00am until 1:00pm. Read more here!
