The Red Shield Center in south Modesto serves under privileged children in our community. Even with our low membership rates, some families cannot afford to join. We have established a sponsorship program to help off-set the cost of these memberships while allowing families to participate in activities and use our facility. Would you consider sponsoring a child or family this year?

Our local Salvation Army Family Stores are located in Modesto, Stockton, Manteca, and Sonora.

In a very real sense, The Salvation Army Family Stores are at the heart of the Adult Rehabilitation Center philosophy. These simple community stores serve several distinct purposes: our Family Stores provide quality clothing, furniture and other goods to the community at bargain prices. The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabiliation Centers are 100% funded from the proceeds of our Family Stores, allowing them to be self-sustaining. A major part of the men's and women's involvement in their own rehabilitation is Work Therapy. Some of this is done in the Family Stores allowing them to regain self-esteem and learn valuable vocational skills as well.
So you see, the Family Store is much more than meets the eye. It is an outlet for bargains, a donation center, a training site, and a place where neighbors can shop with dignity.

| At the Red Shield, we provide positive, character building activities for young people. In the past we have served over 11,000 children in our sports leagues. Over 5500 children used our swimming pool. Nearly 2000 teens and children were provided with alternatives to the gang lifestyle so rampant in their neighborhood. We sent 46 students to summer camp. Our computer lab and tutoring program provided assistance to over 7300 students. And for fun, our game room provided hours of safe entertainment for over 16,500! |
